1) Eggs in Grass
For the second set of cupcakes, I wanted a set of eggs atop a chocolate shaving nest. I'd had a pack of chocolate almond bark in my pantry for a little while and thought it would be perfect for this endeavor. However, making chocolate shavings is much more difficult than it looks and the internet was not much help - I found several very helpful tutorials for chocolate shavings, but none for the type of texture I was actually wanting. I attempted using a vegetable peeler, a cheese grater and a knife, none of which yielded the type of texture I was hoping for, but using the knife and cutting pieces about 2x the size of what I wanted resulted in something close. And although my first attempt working with chocolate shavings was not the quick and easy task I'd anticipated, in the end I think the cupcakes still look delicious with the chocolate and Cadbury eggs piled up on top of a classic cupcake.
